How to Measure Yourself for a Leather Jacket

You'll need a soft tape measure, a friend if possible, and a thin T-shirt. Takes about five minutes.

What you need

•       A soft tape measure (not a metal one).

•       A thin T-shirt or bare torso.

•       A friend, or a mirror and patience.

Step by step

Step 1: Chest

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, under the armpits and across the shoulder blades. Keep it level and snug but not tight. Breathe normally.

Step 2: Shoulders

Measure straight across the back from the outer edge of one shoulder bone to the other. This is the most important number.

Step 3: Sleeve length

Bend your arm slightly. Measure from the shoulder bone, down past the elbow, to your wrist bone.

Step 4: Waist

Measure around your natural waist, just above the belly button.

Step 5: Jacket length

Measure from the base of your neck, down the back, to where you'd like the hem to end.

Between sizes?

If you fall between two sizes, choose the larger if you layer in winter, or the smaller if you want a sharp, close look. Shoulders decide: always match the shoulder number first.

A quick check with a jacket you own

Lay your best-fitting jacket flat and measure it armpit to armpit, then double that number. Compare it to our chest measurement. It's often more accurate than body measurements.

Frequently asked questions

Do I measure over clothes?

Measure over a thin shirt only. Thick sweaters will give you a size that's too big.

What if my measurements don't match the chart?

Go by shoulders first, then chest, then sleeve length. Message us and we'll help.

Is leather jacket sizing different from regular sizing?

Often yes. Leather doesn't stretch, so always check the chart.
